Hosta 'Tom Schmid'

This sport of H. 'Krossa Regal' was registered by Tom Schmid of Michigan in 1995. It forms a large size (25 inches high by 36 inches wide) upright mound with slightly wavy, smooth textured leaves with good substance. Medium lavender flowers are borne on tall (3 to 5 feet tall) scapes from late July into August. It does not produce seed.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Moderate to rapid growth rate. Use as a border specimen. Superb in a large container."

This cultivar is named by and for the former owner of Schmid Nursery in Jackson, Michigan.
