Hosta 'Shimmer'

Registered by Don Dean of Minnesota in 2018, this small size (9 inches high by 26 inches wide) cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Dorset Clown' × H. 'Silver Bay'. The foliage is intensely blue-green in color with a pale yellow marginal variegation. Its leaves are broadly ovate, slightly twisted, moderately folded, slightly corrugated and has glaucous bloom on the top and bottom. Pale lavender flowers bloom in August on scapes 12 to 16 inches tall followed by viable seeds in blue-green pods.

The registration materials state: "...Long-lasting, clear blue coloration on a small-sized, flat clump. Glows morning and evening. Holds its blue color late (in Minnesota)...margin becomes near white later."
