This hybrid of H. glauca x H. 'Sieboldiana' was registered in 1986 by The American Hosta Society on behalf of the originator, Elizabeth Nesmith of Fairmount Gardens in Massachusetts. It forms a giant size (28 inches high by 64 inches wide) mound of dark green foliage. The leaves are heavily rippled, convexly cupped, heavily corrugated and have thick substance. Pale lavender flowers bloom from late June into July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The name "Hosta glauca" has been used for a variety of plants over the years. It implies that the plant has blue-green foliage. The most likely choices are as follows:

	if 9-11 vein pairs = H. 'Fortunei Hyacinthina';
	if 16 or more vein pairs and large-sized = H. 'Elegans';
	if 16 or more vein pairs and medium to small sized = H. 'Tokudama'."
