This hybrid of two unidentified seedling s was originated by
Dr. Kevin Vaughn of Massachusetts and registered by
Paul Aden of New York in 1986 (later changed to
registered by the The
American Hosta Society). It grows
into a large size hosta about
21 inches in height by 48 inches wide with yellow margins in the
spring that turn to white by early summer.
The leaves are
broadly ovate, cupped up or down and have a distinct tip. They
are somewhat unruly, moderately corrugated and have a thin bloom
on the underside. Near white flowers bloom in July.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...offers the combination of attractively variegated
foliage, a dense mound habit, and thick substance. It ranks high
in distinction, being easily identified without a label."
