Hosta 'Pioneer'

This cultivar of unidentified parentage was registered in 1984 by Chet Tompkins of Oregon. The hosta grows into a giant size about 32 inches high by 83 inches wide with medium to dark green foliage. Its leaves are ovate, slightly corrugated, deeply lobed at the base and have a long, thin tip. Very pale lavender flowers bloom from late June into July on scapes up to 45 inches in height.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...becomes a large background plant."
