Hosta 'Panda Bear'

This non-registered cultivar is a sport of H. 'Pooh Bear' originated by Jerry Hadrava of Iowa. It forms a small size (10 inches high) mound of blotchy gold centered foliage. The lavender flowers appear from late June into July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Like other plants infected with Hosta Virus X, 'Panda Bear' has a kind of exotic beauty. Still, it should not be propagated or cultivated to avoid bringing a source of this virus into your garden."
