This cultivar of unidentified parentage is listed as H. rectifolia 'Nakai'. It
forms a medium size mound about a foot tall by 26 inches wide. In August, it
bears purple flowers. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "A series of mistakes created this "cultivar". When
speaking of the species
H. rectifolia, "Nakai" simply
denotes the person who originally described it as a species and
is commonly written as H. rectifolia Nakai (Schmid 1991, p.87).
At some point, someone mistakenly altered the name to H.
rectifolia 'Nakai' and attributed it to a white edged plant,
probably H. rohdeifolia." |
