This cultivar is an
open-pollinated seedling of
H. montana 'Aureomarginata' which
was registered by
Dr. Jim and
Jill
Wilkins of Michigan in 1989. It forms a
giant, vase-shaped mount about 32 inches tall by 75 inches wide.
The leaves are slightly wavy, deeply veined and have thick
substance. In July, very pale purple flowers bloom on 4 foot
tall scapes. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Except for its all green color, 'Mount Fuji' is nearly
identical to H. montana 'Aureomarginata' and may be
the best example of a typical H. montana in both
foliage and flower."
