Registered by Bill Struhar
of Michigan in
2018,
this large size (26 inches high by 48 inches wide) cultivar is
a fast growing
sport of an unnamed seedling of (H. 'Sutter's
Mill' x H. 'Big John'). It is a green hosta with
golden-yellow marginal variegation. The leaves are
broadly ovate, slightly twisted, slightly corrugated and
dull on top. Near white flowers bloom from mid-June into
July on scapes up to 34 inches tall. It sets seeds but
their viability was not known at the time of
registration.
The registration materials state: "...Fast growing,
large clump of high contrast, green centered leaves with
wide, irregular, bright gold margins...Gold margins fade
to yellow by the end of the season...buds are lightly
edged in lavender - upon opening petals are white inside
and out with plentiful pollen on all anthers."
There
is some debate as to whether residents of Michigan
should be called Michiganders or Michiganians.
