Hideko Gowen of Minnesota originated this seedling of H. 'Dorothy Benedict' which was registered on her behalf by Kim Larsen (also of Minnesota) in 2008. It forms a large size hosta with heavily streaked green and gold leaves. Dense clusters of near white flowers bloom from mid-June into July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...named for the former president (2006 -2007) and long-serving board member of The American Hosta Society."
