This sport of H. 'August Moon' was registered in 1999 by Barry Sligh in New Zealand as part of his Kiwi Series of hostas. A medium to large size plant, it bears lavender flowers from late July into August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "I've seen several specimens of 'Kiwi Sunlover' and have not been able to distinguish them from other green-centered 'August Moon' sports."
