An open-pollinated seedling of H. 'Elegans', this
cultivar was originally credited to
Paul Aden of New York.
Recently, its status has been changed to "unidentified originator " and it was
registered by Mark Zilis of Illinois in 2010. The foliage is medium blue-green which changes
to dark green by mid-summer. A large size plant, it grows to 26 inches
in height and a massive 92 inches wide at maturity. The leaves are
heavily corrugated, slightly wavy, moderately twisted and have thick substance.
Its tubular, near white flowers bloom in late June
and set viable seeds.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...disappeared from
nursery lists sometime during the 1980s...it was rumored to be
the same as 'Big Mama'...a few nurseries have begun offering it
again..."
