Hosta 'Grey Piecrust'

This is a seedling of H. 'Green Piecrust' from Thomas Donahue of Massachusetts. The American Hosta Society registered it on his behalf in 1986. It forms a giant size plant about 27 inches high with a spread of 75 inches. The leaves begin the season blue-green in color but change into green by early summer. Its foliage is deeply lobed, has marginal ripples and are slightly corrugated. Very pale  lavender flowers bloom from late June into July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "By reputation, 'Grey Piecrust' has a bluer leaf than 'Green Piecrust', but the difference is minimal. For most of the growing season they appear nearly identical."
