A sport of H. 'Grand Tiara', this
cultivar was originated by
Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan and registered on his behalf by
Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) in 2009. It forms a medium size plant with gold foliage that has thick
substance. Purple flowers bloom from mid-July into August. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "There seems to be no difference between 'Grand Gold' and
'Amber Tiara'. Since the latter has been registered, I suspect
that the name 'Grand Gold' will fall out of use."
