This 'Fortunei'-type plant has
been around a long time and might have been imported from
Japan. Originally, it was registered by
The American Hosta Society as
H.
fortunei 'Viridis' but the name was later changed with the
publication of
W. George Schmid's book in 1991 to its present
form.
H. 'Fortunei Viridis' forms a
large size hosta
about 19 inches high with a spread of 52 inches. The
medium green foliage is ovate-shaped and slightly corrugated. Pale lavender flowers bloom from
mid-July into August. This plant may have been sold at one time as
'Mackwoods No. 20'.
