Hosta 'Craig Harlequin Bells'
 

 

This medium size cultivar of unidentified parentage was originated by Jack Craig who received it from Japan and it was registered on his behalf by Peter Ruh of Ohio in 1998 and modified in 1999. It is a small size hosta about 13 inches high by 15 inches wide with dark green foliage. The leaves are slightly rippled and very shiny on top and bottom. Bell-shaped, purple flowers from mid-June into July on scapes up to 23 inches tall.

The registration materials state: "Originally published as H. 'Harlequin Bells'.  Correction appeared on page 53 of the The Hosta Journal Volume 30 No. 1."

It was also known as H. 'Harlequin Bells'.


The Hosta Journal, (2006 Vol. 37 No. 2), in an article about flower characteristics stated that this cultivar has "...white edged blooms.. ."
