Hosta 'Captain Teach'

Hajime Sugita of Japan originated this seedling of H. kikutii caput-avis and it was registered on his behalf by Peter and Jean Ruh of Ohio in 2001. It is a medium size plant about 11 inches tall by 34 inches wide. The dark green foliage is very shiny, moderately rippled and slightly corrugated. Lavender flowers bloom from July into August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "It was named for Edward Teach, aka "Blackbeard the Pirate"."
