Hosta
'Blue Steel'

This cultivar is a self-pollinated seedling of H. 'Frances Williams' × H. 'Frances Williams' which was introduced by Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan in the early 1980s. It was registered on his behalf by Registrar, Kevin Walek in 2009.

This is a large size cultivar about 26 inches high by 68 inches wide with intensely blue-green foliage. The leaves are heavily corrugated, heavily rippled and glaucous on top and bottom. Near white flowers bloom from June into July on scapes 20 to 30 inches tall. Seed set was not known at the time of registration.

It is a sibling to H. 'Dorothy Benedict'.
