A
self-pollinated seedling of
H. sieblodiana 'Frances Williams', this cultivar was
registered by
Dr. Kevin Vaughn of
Massachusetts in 1977. It forms a large size mound of
blue-green foliage that bears lavender flowers in July. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Kevin Vaughn used the pollen of 'Blue Lace' in his
breeding program, resulting in at least two introductions,
'Tarnished' and 'Aqua Velva'."
