David
Stone originated this cultivar in the 1960s and it was registered by
The American Hosta Society
on his behalf in 1986. It is a hybrid of
H. nakaiana x
H. 'Sieboldiana' which according to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...shows traits of both parents." This plant forms a large size (19 inches high) mound of foliage with a cordate
base and slight corrugation. Clusters of pale lavender flowers
bloom on 34 inch tall scapes followed by viable seeds. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), this cultivar "...shows true hybrid character. The
flowers tend toward H. nakaiana while the foliage color and
shape leans toward H. 'Sieboldiana'."
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "A useful ground cover and edging plant."
