An open-pollinated seedling of the species, H. hypoleuca, this cultivar was registered by Peter Ruh of Ohio in 1991. It forms a large size,  20 inch high mound with leaves of better than average substance. The leaves are slightly rippled but are not corrugated. The thick bloom appears on both the top and the bottom of the leaves. It is late flowering plant with medium lavender blooms appearing in August and September.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...a favorite of collectors and nurserymen due to its bright blue foliage color and good growth rate. It came from the same group of seedlings as 'Thor' (green) and 'Lemon Meringue' (gold)."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Leaves have exceptionally thick, white undersides."
