Originated by
Rob Mortko
of Made in the Shades Gardens in Kansas, this
non-registered cultivar is a tissue culture sport of H. 'Gentle
Giant'. As the name implies, it forms a giant size hosta
about 42 inches tall and 68 inches wide. This is an
upright growing, vase-shaped plant with blue-green,
cupped foliage that has white marginal variegation. The
leaves are slightly wavy and moderately puckered. Its
lavender flowers are borne in mid-summer just above the
foliage and bear fertile seeds.
According
to the In the Country Garden and Gift website, "A good
plant is even better when it has a special story behind
it. Wanting to honor 40 wonderful years together, Rob Mortko named this
hosta for his wife, Sheri."
According to Wikipedia, "..."And You and I" is the
second track from the album Close to the Edge by the
English progressive rock band Yes."
