"Plant
is one received by
Gus Krossa from Japan and sent to
Dr Karel Hensen, Wageningen Botanic Garden, Netherlands in
1967. A herbarium specimen...is identified incorrectly
by Hensen as
H. tsushimensis. Identification from
a dried specimen is difficult but this taxon is similar
to a glaucous, blue-green cultivar which has been found
in North American gardens where it is mistakenly labeled
H. densa. This is not the same as Akebona
Tokudama Gibōshi Kikuchi 1934 = H. 'Tokudama
Aureonebulosa'. The name H. 'Akebono' is invalid when
applied to Krossa's plant." According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The few plants that I have seen with this name were
identical to H. 'Tokudama
Aureonebulosa'."
