This cultivar is the result of
cross breeding H. 'White Vision' × H. 'Sum
and Substance'. It was registered in 1989 by
Dr. Charles Purtymun at Walden West Nursery
in Oregon. The foliage starts the season yellow and
changes to a darker golden color later. A large size
hosta, the clump grows to about 23 inches in height by 48 inches
wide. The leaves have good substance and moderate corrugation.
Its near-white flowers bloom in July.
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "Lutescent. Colors best in some sun, but site in
afternoon shade in very hot climates. A slow to
moderate increaser."
