Registered by Dirk Dupré of Belgium in 2010,
this cultivar is a sport of H. 'Chinese Sunrise'.
It grows to a medium size about 11 inches high by 19
inches wide. The dark green foliage has a yellow medial
(center) variegation which turns to green as the season
progresses. Its leaves are slightly rippled, slightly
wavy, lanceolate and very shiny on top seedling with red dots on
the petioles. The flowers bloom from mid-July into
August.
This
name could refer to a region of Turkey or the Barada
River near Damascus identified as Abana in the Bible.
