The Dow Gardens were established in 1899 by the founder of the Dow Chemical Company. The gardens have grown over the years and now include 110 acres of rolling land.

This garden located in the middle of Michigan's lower peninsula is a true hidden treasure. Even though they are in a rather harsh environment for rhododendrons, they have a very nice collection. They are also doing research trying to find varieties of birch trees that are resistant to the bronze birch borer. Well worth a visit to this outstanding garden.
