Arnold Arboretum is a part of Harvard University and is the
oldest public arboretum in North America. It is the site of
research on all types of plants and is part of the Boston
park system for viewing by the public at no fee. Of course,
a major part of the arboretum is educational with programs
for the professional horticulturist as well as the general
gardening public. It is also the site of a huge herbarium
with over 1.3 million pressed and dried specimens of plants from
around the world.
