Between 1306 and 1651, this palace was the site of every coronation for a Scottish king. Today, it owned by the  the 8th Earl of Mansfield, William David Murray. It is located a few miles from the City of Perth.

Visited in 2009 and enjoyed the tour of the palace and a quick visit to the "Wild Garden" and the Pinetum.  From a horticultural perspective, this is the site of the "Original Douglas Fir" which was planted in 1826 from a seed brought back from the Columbia River Valley in the Oregon Territory by plant explorer, David Douglas.

You can combine it with the nearby Branklyn Garden and the University of Dundee Botanic Garden is only about 20 minutes down the road.
