Muckross
House and Gardens are part of a 22,000 acre Killarney National
Park. The gardens are located only 6 km from Killarney along
Kenmare road.
Giant Gunnera
plants are common in Ireland providing a magnificent specimen.
Like the U.K.,
Ireland is home to many ancient, majestic trees.
To get to Muckross, you can take a
horse drawn carriage from your hotel in Killarney.
Beautiful setting and wonderful
gardens.
Muckross House, Gardens and Traditional Farms
Killarney
National Park
One of the classic "tourist" things
to do is to take a small horse cart from Killarney out a few
miles to Muckross House. Our driver must have kissed the
blarney stone because he was blessed with the gift of gab. We
stopped at a castle ruin along the way and the beautiful
scenery was worth the price. I took the same journey on my
last visit to Ireland in 1980 and it is amazing how much more
building and development there is now along the route. The Muckross gardens are a beautiful mixture of mature trees
and perennial gardens. The giant Gunnera plants were
huge and breathtaking.
