Located behind the shops immediately across from the castle
in Kilkenny, this little garden is a pleasant respite from
the city. Although the house is used for conferences and is
not open to the public, the garden may be entered at any
time. It is an interesting example of what a typical
backyard to one of these big Georgian houses might have
looked like when they had a lot of servants to take care of
it.
Butler
House is a notable Georgian residence at the heart of
Kilkenny which features a walled garden. Most rooms overlook
the secluded garden and Kilkenny Castle. Butler House is
used throughout the year as a conference venue and doubles
as an impressive gallery during Kilkenny Arts Week in August
each year.
