Frankfurt Palmgarten - Germany - Gardens, Parks, Squares and Open Spaces

The palmengarten was established in 1868. The 50 acre garden is known for its collection of tropical plants. There is also a large greenhouse (Tropicarium) with collections based on habitat types including rain forest, mangrove swamp, mountain forest, monsoon area and savannah.

The Palm Garden in Frankfurt is a treat. It is larger than one might think from the entrance and is a pleasant combination of herbaceous perennials, trees and a great tropicarium (tropical greenhouse). There is even a little wildlife like the hedgehog shown above. He was waddling around the grounds seemingly indifferent to the people walking nearby on the paths. Well worth a visit!
