Burr Oaks Conservatory is named
for both Vice President Aaron Burr who lived nearby and for the stately
tree of the same name. The glasshouse covers an area of 1.5 acres and
features a wide range of native and tropical plants. Our tree
collection consists of over 87 species while our water
garden is one of the best in our part of the country.
The Conservatory was created in 1902 by the great, great grandson of
Aaron Burr to honor his famous ancestor. We have grown into one of the
top ten conservatories in the U.S. in terms of the diversity of our
collections. Our sandbur garden is one of the largest in North
America. |
