According to the BHHS website, their aims are:

To increase knowledge about Hosta and Hemerocallis (daylilies), we

• Answer botanical and cultural queries
• Give advice on the control of pests and diseases
• Publish information concerning Hosta and Hemerocallis
• Operate a library service for literature

To foster interest in the cultivation of Hosta and Hemerocallis, we

• Exhibit at shows
• Arrange lectures, visits and exhibits
• Advise on varieties and their availability
• Encourage regional groups

To preserve the history of Hosta and Hemerocallis, we

• Record old varieties and register them
• Trace old varieties
• Work closely with Plant Heritage (formerly the NCCPG) and other societies and individuals

Also, the organization has registered many hostas on behalf of several British hybridizers. Most notably, they have registered about 35 hostas produced by Eric Smith's famous Tardiana Group of blue-green hostas. Click Here to see the list of registrations by BHHS.

BHHS is a fine organization which includes members from around the world. I have been a member for several years and enjoy their Journal very much. Visit their website and consider membership.
