This form of the species
is native to both Korea and China. It was first
described by
Dr. Fumio Maekawa in the 1930s as a separate
species. However,
W. George Schmid (1991) revised that
classification to a naturally occurring variety of the
species H. clausa.
It is a green colored
hosta with narrow, lanceolate shaped foliage. Purple
flowers bloom from August into September.
