Heinz Klose of
Staudengärtnerei Klose in Germany, this cultivar
is of unidentified parentage but is a
Tardiana-type hosta.
The medium size plant grows to about 12 inches in
height with a width of around 33 inches. Its foliage is
deep blue-green which changes to dark green by late
summer. The leaves are slightly wavy, ovate and has a
thick bloom on the bottom. Lavender flowers bloom from
late August into September. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...from the Tardiana seedlings he obtained from
Eric Smith in the 1970s."
This
cultivar is named for a river in the northern part of Germany.
