This seedling of H. 'Kifukurin
Ubatake' was registered in 2008 by
Jeroen
Linneman from the
Netherlands. The
fast growing plant forms
a small size (8 inches high by 8 inches wide) mound of wavy foliage with good substance.
Its leaves are very shiny on top, slightly rippled. lanceolate and slightly
wavy. It produces lavender flowers but seed set was not known at the time
of registration. The
registration materials state: "...color changes to
light green" Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term kifukurin or ki fukurin as yellow edge(d) or
yellow margin(ed).
