This upright growing,
hybrid of H. 'Kifukurin Ubatake' was registered by Jeroen Linneman of the
Netherlands in 2008.
It is a small size hosta about 7 inches tall by 9 inches
wide with medium blue-green foliage. The leaves are
moderately flat, ovate and dull on top. Tubular flowers
bloom from mid-July into August on scapes up to 12
inches tall. According to the registration materials: "...small hosta with beautiful blue leaves, white
back...blue becomes green with season..."
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term kifukurin or ki fukurin as yellow edge(d) or
yellow margin(ed).
