Hosta 'Tsuma Tajima'

This seedling selection is a cultivar introduced by Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan which was registered on his behalf by Rod Kuenster of Iowa in 2010. It forms a small size (10 inches high by 20 inches wide) mound medium green foliage that has yellow and greenish white streaked variegation. The leaves are broadly ovate and very shiny on top. Its flowers bloom from mid-August into October on scapes 18 to 24 inches tall followed by streaked seed pods.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...sold for $3500 at the 2002 National Convention of The American Hosta Society auction. This cultivar honors Tsuma Tajima, the mother of prominent hosta collector and AHS member, Hideko Gowen..."
