A non-registered seedling of the species, H. pycnophylla, was originated by Alttara Scheer of Connecticut. It forms a small, dense mound with heavily rippled foliage with red petioles.

This cultivar won the 2006 William and Eleanor Lachman Award at the First Look hosta competition as the best seedling as chosen by the AHS Judges.
