This hybrid of a seedling of H. 'Chōkō Nishiki' × an
open-pollinated seedling was registered by
Madelon Gilligan of New Zealand in 2013. The golden yellow foliage is lance
shaped, moderately wavy, slightly corrugated and slightly shiny
on top. Medium lavender, tubular flowers bloom from June into
July.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e.
something colorful and beautiful.
