Registered by R. Hatt
of Massachusetts in
2020,
this slow growing, small size (8 inches high by 10
inches wide) cultivar is
a
sport of H. 'Yellow Polka Dot Bikini'.
It is a
medium green hosta with ovate foliage that is relatively
flat and slightly shiny on top. The petioles are
upright, dark green and relatively long (3 times the
length of the leaves). At the time of registration, the
2 year old clump had not produced any flowers.
The registration materials state: "...A
fascinating, full season long, color transformation.
Leaves emerge a glowing vivid yellow that remains for a
month or more. Eventually, they start developing a light
green color within the veins and petioles. The green
continues to intensify, eventually spreading into the
leaf surfaces and finally the leaves become a very shiny
dark green. When one shoot comes up later than another,
that part of the plant can be bright yellow while the
other shoots are further within the process to green." |
