Linneman of the
Netherlands in 2009, this
fast growing cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Kifukurin
Ubatake'. It is a miniature size (5 inches high by 7
inches wide) hosta with dark green leaves. The foliage
is moderately flat, ovate and very shiny on top. Tubular
shaped flowers on scapes about 8 inches tall bloom from
mid-July into August. The
registration information states, "...green leaved,
H. pulchella
sort of hosta, very good grower..." Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term kifukurin or ki fukurin as yellow edge(d) or
yellow margin(ed).
