this cultivar is a seedling of (
open-pollinated seedling
of H. 'The Pit and the Pendulum') × (
open-pollinated
seedling of "Rawson Seedling 8-3"). It is a medium size hosta 14 inches high by 24 inches high with medium green
foliage. The leaves are slightly shiny on top and
bottom, relatively flat overall with a deeply lobed base
and have distinct tips.
The flowers which bloom in August on scapes 24 to 26
inches tall are described as: "...deep crimson with
sparse white flecks on exterior while interior white
flecks suggest stripes, white margins alternate with
translucent margins on petal interiors..." It sets
viable seeds in green pods. The
registration materials state: "Medium sized clump
of green leaves with low vein count (typical
H. sieboldii
type). Saturated crimson flowers are the crowning
glory."
