Dr. Dick and Jane Ward of Ohio registered this seedling of H.
'Chōkō
Nishiki' (formerly H. 'On Stage') in 2010.
It is a small size plant about 10 inches high by 36 inches wide
with bright golden yellow foliage which fades as the season
progresses. The foliage is ovate shaped, wavy and of average
substance. Flowers bloom from June into July.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e.
something colorful and beautiful.
