This cultivar is a sport of H. 'Urajiro
Iwa' found in
Japan. It is a small size hosta with green foliage that has a
white marginal variegation. The leaves are narrowly
ovate and slightly wavy.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term iwa as rock, Iwa Gibōshi or
H. longipes, the term shirofukurin or shiro fukurin as white-edge(d) or
white-margin(ed). and the term urajiro as white-backed or white underside. |
