This semi-upright cultivar was originated by Loleta Powell of Powell's Iris Haven in North Carolina but registered in 2009 by Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) on her behalf is of unidentified parentage. It has green, broadly ovate leaves that are shiny on top. 'Shining Image' is a medium size hosta about 17 inches high by 50 inches wide.
