Hosta 'Shady Lady'

This is one of those cases where there are three hostas with the same name. One is registered and, therefore, the "official" version of H. 'Shady Lady' while the other two are non-registered plants and need to be renamed to avoid further confusion.

Dr. Dick and Jane Ward of Ohio registered seedling selection of unidentified background in 2009. It is a large size (19 inches high by 30 inches wide) hosta with green foliage and pale yellow marginal variegation. The leaves are slightly corrugated, moderately wavy, dull on top and have a bloom on the bottom. Tubular shaped flowers bloom from mid-July into August.

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Shady Lady' (Ward).

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), Jerry Hadrava of Iowa had a breeding plant by this name. He later changed the name to 'Rosedale Shady Lady'.

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Shady Lady' (Hadrava).

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), Greg Johnson of Iowa originated a seedling of H. 'Invincible' by this name. He later changed the name to 'Shady Affair'.

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Shady Lady' (Greg Johnson).
