Monty and Julie Carlson of Minnesota registered this large size (20 inches high by 48 inches wide) hybrid
of H. 'Urajiro Hachijo' × an unidentified hosta in 2013. It has
intensely blue-green foliage which is broadly ovate, moderately
wavy and glaucous on top. Medium lavender, tubular flowers with
dark lavender stripes bloom from August into September. It sets
viable seeds.
The registration materials state: "...very blue, very
symmetrical, comes out green and blues up, attractive
lavender flower scapes...comes out green and blues up."
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term urajiro as white-backed or white underside.
