Sunrise Greenhouse in Illinois but registered in 2008
by
William
and Jean Owens on their behalf, this
upright growing cultivar is a tissue culture sport of H. 'Geisha'.
The medium size (15 inches high by 36 inches wide) hosta has green foliage with gold
colored streaked variegation. Its leaves are ovate, slightly wavy, slightly twisted and slightly shiny on
top with petioles that have red purple dots. Bell shape
flowers bloom from mid-August into September on scapes
26 to 38 inches tall. According to the registration materials: "...greenish-yellow leaves streaked with many
shades of green..."
An article in
The
Hosta Journal, Vol. 40 No. 2 - 2009,
says that the S.S. in this name refers to a friend and
stands for Sandra's Sunshine. |
