A hybrid of two hostas
called "Hadrava Seedling RD-BS" x "Hadrava Seedling RD-80", this large size (19 inches
high by 40 inches wide) cultivar was registered in 2000 by
Jerry Hadrava of Iowa. The leaves are dark green with a gold colored
marginal variegation. Its foliage is ovate, slightly
corrugated and has thick substance. Near white to very
pale lavender flowers bloom in July.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Ultimately, this may prove to be the most popular
Rosedale."
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "...it takes about four seasons of growth for the
full effect to be achieved. The margin lightens to paler
yellow during the summer...large, variegated
inflorescence leaves."
